Recently we’ve been answering questions on what we do, what we believe and why it matters. We’ve been sharing our passion. In doing this, we’ve come to realize – again – that passion is the great motivator.
- It gets you out of bed in the morning.
- It empowers you to put in the hard work and long hours.
- It fuels the desire to grow, learn and do/be better.
- It makes the hard parts bearable and the great parts memorable.
We are passionate about women. We’ve even come up with a catchy phrase – We SEE Women! It means We SERVE, EDUCATE and EMPOWER women. Intimate Apparel is our product, but our Passion is SEEing Women. Beginning in 2020 we have come along side Dove Recovery House. This amazing place in Indianapolis is the largest recovery housing program for women in the area. They help the most vulnerable women in our communities – women who have experienced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; women who have experienced homelessness; women who are struggling with substance use disorder and have nowhere else to turn. Dove House serves more than 100 women annually.
We have hosted the Dove Ladies after hours multiple times each year since 2020. The evening includes sharing dinner together, a professional bra fitting along with new and gently loved bras – that fit them – from our vendors and women in the community. Each evening is different and may include mini-yoga classes, skin care and make-overs for those that would like it, a photographer on site, or other special items. It’s about the women who attend those from the community who come to serve. And, before they leave, they each get a bag of goodies that include inspirational and various items/products that make daily life a bit easier. Talk about a life changing experience. Some of these women have never owned or worn a bra, worn makeup, or had a make-over! Wrap your brain around that one!
This picture is something I truly love. It shows the entire Uplift Team and a community of friends serving these ladies. Some of these ladies will forever be changed by the love they received here. That is the power of a bra. That is the power of women coming together for good. That is what I LOVE and am so proud to be a part of.
Until we meet again, behind the curtain… —Carla
