You won’t believe what you’ve been missing—until you try it on.
We’ve been blessed to serve thousands of women since Uplift opened in Carmel, IN in May 2017. And here, 8 years later, we are meeting new women every day who don’t know what they don’t know about bras. (As a side note, we all need to get good at recognizing and changing it when we don’t know what we don’t know!) Here are some things you might be surprised to learn about:
Design | Fabrics | Quality | Fit | Care and the fun!
Each of these characteristics both stand alone as an important part of each individual bra as well as help make up the big picture of a well-fitting, comfortable bra.
DESIGN is the realization of a concept. It’s the idea that starts as a drawing and becomes something women long for. We look for designs that speak to the heart of a woman, while also satisfying the intricacies of a woman’s body as it relates to fit.
FABRICS are one of our favorites. Nothing comes into Uplift unless I’ve touched it, squeezed and pulled it, and really inspected the fabric. I’m a sucker for soft and strong – all in one.
QUALITY is the sum of the individual parts creating the total package. Having something that looks beautiful and then falls apart the first time you wear or wash it, isn’t something that will make the cut at Uplift. Quality speaks to the choices made in production, the level of embroidery and caliber of embellishments, the precision of the stitching, the hardware used, all of it is about quality.
FIT is something that cannot be faked. It is either designed for a woman’s body or it’s not. And if it is designed for a woman’s body, we can find the right size for each person. We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it .. Bra Fitting is not a DIY project. The Uplift team is trained to do proper fittings. I personally have been successfully fitting women for more than 20 years.
CARE is something that happens after you take it home. To keep your bra feeling great and fitting right, regular care is key. We strongly encourage everyone to hand wash their bras and intimates and recommend using Forever New. First, we love how well the product cleans. Additionally, it’s made in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. And it’s a Woman owned company for 50 years.
Ladies, if you’re bra was purchased in the 1900’s, it’s too old. If the brand isn’t made anymore, it’s too old. You should have a fitting every year, just like you have annual mammograms. As we age our bodies change and that change impacts our bras.
I wish I could articulate how I’ve seen a properly fitted bra change women’s entire perspective – on everything. You may be wondering “how in the world is that true?” Come, let us show you. And remember, what happens behind the curtain, stays behind the curtain. Except for the new-found confidence and lift you find!
Until we meet again behind the curtain, —Carla
