It’s our Birthday. Four years ago, Uplift’s doors opened. It’s been the realization of a dream for me and a life-changing experience for the women who have joined the Uplift family! For four years, you’ve heard our message about the importance and benefits of wearing the correct size bra. You’ve heard us talk about the confidence that comes from wearing intimates that speak to you, as a woman.
Earlier this month I read an article in the Huffington Post, about the perks of wearing nice underwear by Caroline Bologna. She speaks our language.
“Wearing nice quality underwear or lingerie sets boost our confidence and self-esteem, even if no one sees it.” ~ Carolyn Mair
“We choose clothes to protect us from the elements, to make our activities safer, or to make a statement. Clothing is our second skin and an outward display of our identity. Our personal identity is directed toward how we feel about ourselves. In this sense, undergarments provide the opportunity to express inner desires and instincts, free from any concerns about judgment or interference from others.” ~ Carolyn Mair
“I think there’s a level of self-care and self-love that goes into buying nice underwear or lingerie. Anything we do to make ourselves feel taken care of or loved can be viewed as self-care.” ~ Rachel Thomasian
“Our outfits are typically bound by cultural and societal norms; we don’t always have the freedom to express our specific tastes through our everyday styles. Lingerie sets, on the other hand, do not have to conform to such norms because they are for our eyes only, or for the eyes of our partners. This freedom can be therapeutic for the wearer as it allows them to wear sets in styles that are a true reflection of their creativity and personal tastes.” ~ Shakaila Forbes-Bell
These are just a few of the truths we found in the article. As we’ve always said and truly believe, lingerie is for you. It’s a very personal, private decision we each make for ourselves, not for anyone else. If you have to dress in a uniform or your attire is dictated by your job, your lingerie isn’t. You choose who you are underneath your clothing. That’s why we always say Uplift Intimate Apparel is where dressing begins.
I look forward to seeing you soon – behind the curtain!
