Planning is a huge aspect of all our lives. Just think about the one question that comes up everyday – “What’s for dinner?” In most instances, answering – and executing the answer – requires planning.

Here at Uplift we see it all the time; both the execution of planning and the lack of planning. For example: “I’m leaving for Florida – tomorrow – and need a bathing suit.” Or “My daughter is getting married in three months and I’m looking for comfortable shapewear.” (By the way, this does exist and we’ve got it!)

As we roll into September, let us share some insight and standard questions to consider that we have for “planning” that will make a positive impact on your life.

• What are you going to wear?
• Is it something you already have or do you need something new?
• Do you have the intimates and shapewear you need for your outfit or do you need to find other solutions?
• What about a cover up?
• What about shoes? Shoes are always important. (And remember with the right bra, panties that fit, and comfortable shoes, you can tackle anything!)
• What other items might you need based on the why of your event or trip?
• Is there an opportunity or need for swimwear?

Below is a sampling of specific situations that may arise and how we can be a resource for you.

Dates/Events

We carry more than 120 bra sizes in bands from 30-46 and cup sizes A-J. There’s a very good possibility that we’ll have something that will work perfect for you. However, if we need to order it, coming in the day of or day before means you don’t have that option. We also carry other undergarments and shapewear that is amazing and chances are good we can help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Be prepared, come early. And remember to schedule an appointment so we can set aside time just for you.

Short Travel

Very few trips, whether professional or personal, come up with less than several days to plan. Last month we talked about intimate styling options to add a new kick to your existing wardrobe. There are several real options to thinking “intimates” to enhance your wardrobe.

Intimates can take up a lot less space in your suitcase and they can serve double (or triple duty). Let’s say you need a dress for one of your outings during your travels. A chemise or slip can work perfect paired with a coverup (think pool cover-up or jacket you’d be taking anyway). Plus you can wear it as sleep wear. And it takes up literally no space in your suitcase.

Big Life Events like Weddings

Weddings are a living, breathing, entity with a life all their own. However, there are standard needs associated with weddings/receptions/larger celebrations. On our website we’ve created a Bridal page with everything you need to know about “intimate” planning for the big day and beyond.  There’s even a Bride’s Intimates Checklist to help you think through everything you might need. Use this to help you plan for your wedding or big event.

Extended Travel

Four days away from home is very different than 10+ days. There are very few people who can take a 10+ day trip with a backpack (and if that’s you – we applaud you!). For the rest of us, again, planning is required.

One way to simplify is to plan for washing. We recommend bringing Soak Wash . It is easy to use, deliciously scented, no-rinse, and cleans your intimates, swimwear, workout wear, etc. so well. Having Soak with you means you can pack less and do a bit of laundry on the go. At Uplift, we carry an extensive line-up of wash products in various sizes along with travel packets.

Swimwear 

Swimwear isn’t something “to be avoided at all cost” and then, at the very last minute, run out and grab something, anything. You don’t have to live with the mindset that “you’ll never see these people again.” We carry a variety of bra size swimwear brands and styles and for some items can order additional sizing options . We’ve had a surprising number of women try on our swimwear and stand in front of the mirror and say “I look good in this!” Who doesn’t want that?

So let’s roll into this season with a plan, or at a minimum, a willingness to plan. The options increase exponentially when you are able to calmly and thoughtfully decide, in advance, what you need, what you want, and how to make it happen. We look forward to helping you with your plans.
